Hi folks,
For years I have used mcafee siteadvisor plugin mainly to flag up dangerous sites when doing a search with google. Now the free version no longer works well with google (just one page of google search results flaged by siteadvisor) wants me to use yahoo instead which I don't want to.
I have avg installed and used to remember that the old version of avg had thsi as well, cant get it to run on avg 2011. I dont want to use a search toolbar such as the one offered by avg (which seems to not want to install because of zone alarm firewall which is incompatable with it)
Anyone know of a good alternative to mcafee siteadvisor?
thanks very much
John

I wouldnt trust any of them. Theyre only as good as their updates
Id recommend FIREFOX with the NOSCRIPT plugin to stop them. Or use a SANDBOXIE:idea:0 -
Google does it anyway.
ZA and AVG .. not the best combination, try avast, malwarebytes and windows firewall if you want a speedy machine.!!

You could also have a look at Calling ID Link Advisor

I use WOT (web of trust). It just a simple traffic light system - red for danger etc. It has never misled me as far as I know.
I can't post links yet so just google WOT
It's also available in add ons in Firefox and extensions in Chrome0 -
+1 for WOT0

or just firefox, most dodgy sites are flagged straight away (or maybe that's openDNS doing that..I really can't remember
)
