Men are a nightmare... moan if they don't get anything but say they dont want for nothing!!
Luckily my brother is a star and loves/appreciates/uses anything people get for him, same with my uncle. My dad never needs anything as what he wants he'll go out and buy for himself, but appreciates the thought that goes into it and will try to make use of things, and even if he doesnt we do get a thankyou at least! Same with my grandad.
Don't get him anything other than sweets/chocolate. If he moans, get them out and hand them to him. If he says nothing then they're yours or you could just regift them on someones birthday. He'll soon learn not to be so disrespectful to the fact you care enough to hunt for things for him with your hard earned money. No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries 2015/2016/2017/2018

I'd give him till x date to tell me, after that I'd get him: an oxfam gift; something edible; something to wear that you know he needs; a dvd you'd both watch and a jokey nothing from one of the previous links.0

if my husband doesn't like a present, he tends to say on boxing Day ' So what made you buy such and such'... dead annoying.0

I'd give him a card saying - off you go to the shops then.... lolIt only takes a second to say 'Thanks, you just saved me a few quid!'

My hubby the same - often don't bother - sometimes get a diary but if he wnats 'nothing' - why stress over it - buy yourself something instead!Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0

What an ungrateful b......!! I thought Christmas was about goodwill to all men and 'the thought that counts'? No? Just me?
My sister is quite specific about what she wants, have a list about 5 pages long but she takes forever to put it together, I spent a month texting and calling her trying to get it from her. In the end the simple threat "I'm sorry you've left it too late and won't get any presents this year" normally produces the magic list within the hour!
Sounds like your oh is setting you up for a fall to be honest. He doesn't want you to chose something yet he won't tell you what he wants. Surely that fulfills his christmas scroogness. Your choices are:
1) He tells you what he wants
2) He doesn't tell you and you chose something
3) You live up to your threat and don't get anything and hope he learns his lesson for next year!Don't Throw Food Away Challenge January 2012 - £0.17 / £10

Get him a teeth whitening kit so at least when he's keeping the smile on his face you will have beautiful teeth to look at!
Only joking I'd just go with vouchers save you the stress.0 -
Teeth whitening kits only work if you actually have any teeth...! He's down to his last few now.
I think I'm just gonna have to get him whatever I can think of - again - and keep the receipts - again! If I get him a selection of foreign beers, he likes that...maybe some dvds...couple of shirts? Last year the kids got him a nintendo DS and he actually quite liked that but it's just chucked in a drawer now.0 -
That is a great idea! My husband can never think of anything he wants at Christmas, he can't make decisions at the best of times, but sooner or later he will think of something then he could use the IOU.amibovvered wrote: »
How about putting an IOU note in an envelope then in a box with lots of packing and another box and so on with lots of gaudy paper and ribbons. At least he has something to open!
:santa2:
At the moment he's told me he wants a bottle of Kahlua so he can make white russians - pretty dull yeah?0 -
Just had to share! Earlier I outed my OH as a complete christmas scrooge, which for the last 38 years has been the truth, yesterday he totally took me by surprise and said "let's go and buy you something nice, you always look after everyone and make things nice for them so let's treat you'. I am still in shock, couldn't think of anything I really wanted but did choose a lovely big red glass fruit bowl which looks perfect in my living room. Only cost £7.99 from Tkmax so I'm a cheap date!!Slightly bitter0
