big thanks to my car insurance

Options
I know we all moan about car insurance companies trying to wriggle out using clauses, or not giving you a good price on a written off car or charging high prices for new drivers

So i would like to say a big hands up and thank you to Privledge Insurance my car was written of in a fire around 3 weeks ago - another car was torched and rolled down the hill and hit my car catching it on fire and totally writing it off

From the start they were great arranging car to be towed away the assessor was out on the tuesday price agreed on the wednesday i spoke to the total loss department who kept me informed all the way they liased with leasing company that owned the car and settlement figure paid to leasing company and i recieved a cheque for for the balance minus my excess only yesterday

This was a payout in excess of 22k for the car so a lot of money to be paid out on but they did without a problem and it was hassel free

i have arranged to keep my policy going untill i get a new car but they offered to suspend it for me for 3 months while i got a new car
just got to wait and see what my insurance goes up to next year :D

anyone else got any good results from car insurance companies

Yes, I had a hassle free 3rd party claim when I hit my husbands car (he was 3rd party and claimed off my insurance).
We used a garge of our choice and got a nice hire car (a saab) that both of us could drive with a small excess.
This was with Lloyds TSB 2008 (I mention the timescale as companies can change).

My FIL had a fairly good experience with Norwich Union in about 2005.
I understand they are now Aviva and not so good.
The repudiated a personal injury claim from a pedestrian.
Normally the pedestrian gets the benefit of the doubt so I am please they stood their ground.
He also got his excess back direct.

I have never had a bad experience with an insurance company.

A few years ago i had really good dealings with direct line when one of their drivers hit my car. Next day i had a hire car and they gave me a terrific settlement for my car and my injury claim.

Its one of the reasons i'm now insured with them for my car policy.
  • if it was my car your asking about then it was an 09 plate audi tt convertible i got the difference between what the finance company and what the car was actually worth minus my excess
it the second car that i have had written of in 9 years and both time they paid out without a fuss
