Bite the bullet.
You WILL get idiots and eventually, you will get a neg from an idiot. I got a first neg for something so stupid...something I sold (new) didn't work. No contact, just a negative. Even afterwards, no contact to ask for refund/replacement which I am always happy to give if there is a problem.
The neg was the best thing ebay-wise that ever happened to me - I stopped worrying about negatives and being overly "nice" - concentrated on just giving good service, and made my way up to gold powerseller without anybody worrying that an idiot had given me a neg.
The key is in the feedback TEXT. Don't abuse or attack - just state plain facts. 500 is a decent record with 100%. Few people will be put off by a 500'er with 99% feedback - unless feedback texts contain a load of slagging and namecalling.
Wait for a response, if no payment is forthcoming, file an NPB, claim back your fees and leave the necessary feedback to let others know how the transaction went.0
