Does anyone know of a free utility to take a jpeg (or other image file) and rotate it in 3D to create a perspective view and then save it? Thanks

When you say "rotate it in 3D to create a perspective view" do you mean as if you were viewing a photo from an angle rather than directly from the front?
If so, you could probably achieve that sort of effect using:
http://pixlr.com/editor/
maybe using 'Edit > Free distort'.Stompa0 -

im not sure exactly what you are after this was done fast and im not sure why i had a picture of a crab on my computer0 -
Thanks to you both for your replies.
Stompa - I got it to work using Free Distort in Pixlr as you suggested. Couldn't get the canvas to rotate with the image so ended up with a transparent rectangular canvas with the rotated image on it. I'm not an expert with image editing so perhaps rotating the canvas with the image or cropping it to fit the image isn't possible.
Hubert - thanks for the demo. I got it to work in Word 2010, but when I saved the image as a jpeg, it reverted back to the non perspective view. I can save the perspective image okay in Word format.0 -
Just do it in GIMP already!0
