Cant read doc files???

in Techie Stuff
as the title says, I cant read DOC files, I downloaded word reader 2003 as I read somewhere on google but it still is just gobledygook. Can any of you more techie minded people help?????

Have you tried open office?
Free and will read and create .doc files0 -
Download Word Viewer, which is a replacement for Word Reader 2003. It will enable you to read documents created in Word 2007, which has a different format to earlier versions of word.

As lucylucky says, OpenOffice is your best bet.
You possibly have a Word 2007 file, which 2003 will not read - but OO will read and write it, and for free

Well just downloaded word viewer and its still the same,will give open office a go, thanks folks x0

What is the file extension. is it .doc or .docx?No free lunch, and no free laptop
