RBS Credit Card reduced interest offer for Christmas??

Options
Has anyone else had similar "offer" on Royal Bank of Scotland credit card. First time I've come across something like this. Received in post this morning.

The offer is:

....."a great low rate of just 4.9% p.a. on purchases over £250 - .....every time you spend that amount or more in one transaction between 1st November 2006 and 31st January 2007 the special offer will apply"(even apparently if its lots of separate things but on the same till receipt in one store) BUT ....."the rate applies on purchases made during the offer period until your May 2007 statement date..."

I'm trying to pay off my RBS card (RBS usual interest rate is about 17.5%... ) and haven't used it for a while...perhaps they've noticed :rotfl: but, was wondering if I could use this to my advantage in any way (bearing in mind my usual "home" is the DFW forums )

  • RBS card is 22.9% they have increased there rate along with many others to recoup some of the money people are reclaiming thru late apyment charges etc..
Work like you don't need money,
Love like you've never been hurt,
And dance like no one's watching
  • Hmm...thanks Clint - probably better I just keep paying it off! Will check my latest statement - didn't notice the increase but sure it will be there.

This is just a marketing ploy to encourage those who are not spending on their credit card to increase debt.

  • Hah...very succinctly put Kenshaz - you are no doubt spot on! :T

Thank goodness for MSE or I might have fallen for this - it did look tempting!!!

RBS will definitely not be getting another penny out of me :D
