    They will ask you if you are in a breakdown situation as you join. So if you say no, technically you are committing fraud. But how could they know?! My Dad did exactly that once, but he did at least leave the car a couple of days before calling them.

    Surely someone close can give you a jump start? Take the car to your local tyre services buy a battery and they'll usually fit it for you if not for free for a couple of £'s extra.

    You can get an unenforceable invoice. As Lum says cat litter or shred it for hamster bedding.;)
