The debt free roll list...question?

is this purely for people that didn't go bankrupt? Don't get me wrong because its a very hard decision to go bankrupt but i think that alot of people that go bankrupt don't learn the same lesson as someone that pays their debt of in a long hard slog?

maybe i'm wrong just a thought

It's a very good question Will - I wasn't thinking of those who go bankrupt - i think that's a seperate discussion. Happy to take views on it.... anyone else?

SS we have a new sticky up top :D
  • I personally wouldn't include those declared bankrupt! Or those who partake in IVA's! I'm by no means saying it is an easy way out as I can't imagine the emotional stress involved but I don't see it being the same as those who have spent years paying back debts!

    Just my opinion though! :)

have to say i agree with the iva/bankrupt thing. i don't mean to sound well, mean, but it truly isn't the same as struggling away to reduce your outgoings and get your debts paid off.

i have other thoughts too, but at risk of upsetting anyone i'll keep them to myself

From a personal view point i think the roll of honour should be geared only towards those that have paid debts of in full(Including payment plans)

Sequestration or scottish trust deeds remain a very strong possibility for me with the way things are currently going for me so im certainly not underestimating or being disrespectful to anyone that had to solve there financial problems with either bankruptcy or through an IVA and there is definately room for another sticky for the members that cleared their feet this way as the stress of going through either methods and re building on the other side is certainly a victory in itself.

but theres something a bit special and heartening when i read the stories of those that have cleared their debts completely and i know the pride id feel if i could do so also.

I have to say I think I agree. The reall aim is to pay off debts.

Yet going bankrupt can be an incredibly brave thing to do - and people who deal with their debts - need encouraging.

So how about we start a
