WONGA loans - but I haven't applied?

Morning.

I have had £200 deposited into my account by WONGA.com, but I haven't applied for a loan (nor would I!) so it must be either a mistake or someone has applied on my behalf (which is not likely but I do have a spiteful ex.....)

I cannot find anywhere a landline contact number; does anyone have one? Or call my bank perhaps and tell them to reverse the BACS?

I have just checked my credit file and there is nothing on there - no loan/searches etc. so I assume that its not fraudulent (would Experian have updated this quickly)?

Shame I cannot say thanks for the unsolicited gift.....

Thanks - I had found that one, but at 10p a minute on Sky Talk I was hoping for a Landline (Sayno doesn't have one). I'll use their contact us page and get them to call me instead I think!

Nope - I have nothing from them at all. Just a payment with what I assume their reference number attached, so I have emailed that to them.

Wonga report to CallCredit and not Experian.

I bank with Natwest and my bank charges if I go overdrawn are £30 - so I would be better off going overdrawn and paying bank charges than I would be taking a extortionate Wonga loan! - Makes me sick!

Depends on how long you're going to be overdrawn and by how much. If you only need the money for ten days, then it's a lot less to borrow it from Wonga (£15.91).

Also, Natwest may charge you £30 for going overdrawn, but then you've also got other factors such as bounced direct debit charges (by both your bank and the company requesting the money) and the possibility of having a late payment registered on your credit report.

Used wisely, payday loans can be the lesser of two evils.

They make their money from the desperate and the stpuid, generally a combination of both.

Just think of the risks involved though, I bet in a good percentage of cases, they never see their cash back.
