Thats great news - do let us know how things go x
  • Things looking not bad - just received my first statement from CCCS which felt nice.
I think all of my creditors apart from one have stopped interest - Lloyds TSB have reduced it to 6%.
I guess next month will be the first time my debt actually decreases (as there were still odd charges going on last month)

I've managed absolutely fine on the budget, but then I didn't have any big unexpected bills last month so time will tell.
Going to have to try to put some away this month to save up for Christmas - just shaving bits here and there I suppose. Have already picked up a few bits and bobs so that eases the pressure a bit.

I am feeling less stressed than I have felt in years. I do realise that things can still go wrong, or my OH could lose his job suddenly but then they say we are all 2 paychecks away from bankruptcy anyway so I need to keep that worry in perspective.

Hopefully things will just jog along and we can start to see the massive debt reduce :)

Thought I would update this now that my DMP has been going for around 10 months.
A few months ago, our income reduced and we had to rejig the payment to CCCS. Well, many of the creditors became quite heavy handed and we received several default notices, a couple of them sold the debt on etc. CCCS were very good and kept resending info where it had been lost etc and I'm hoping it is calming down a bit now.
I think from the beginning debt of £46,782ish, we have paid off around £5,136 but one or 2 creditors have still been charging interest so I need to update my CCCS account to work out exactly what we still owe.
Wish I could pay off more but no extra cash at the moment at all and so many things need bought.

    Hello Sunnyface

Just popping in to say I hope it all goes well with your plans. I've got a similar level of debt and am also trying to do this without mentioning it to anyone IRL.

I try to log in everyday just to keep motivated in being as DFW as possible and also to get the support that this forum gives.

It doesn't all have to be about DFW, as you'll find if you pop into my diary at some point and online friends really rally round to give you that bit of support when you most need it.

Anyway, once again, good luck with it all.

Thanks Granny - it's really nice to hear encouragement from others in the same boat.
I am def going to make more of an effort to check in regularly as it's easy to lose sight of the goal.
Will have a search for your diary thanks :)

Whoops sorry - amazing how life gets in the way.

Things not too bad - still really struggling to spend within means - absolutely HAVE to get on top of it. I think my food budget just isn't enough but don't want to rejig the plan again so will try to really cut stuff everywhere I can after Christmas :)
