Utilita

Options
Just had 2 chaps at my door telling me I can have a smart meter, I am on pre-payment as it it, they tell me theres no standing charge and the electric is cheaper, they are giving me £10 of credit and another £10 later on, also i will be getting a free wireless thing to check my usage.

Has anyone got these people?

I have never heard of them has anyone else?

Don't believe what a cold caller tells you - use a comparison site ;)

You may need to look a long way down to find them as they don't seem very cheap.

For some strange reason they didn't show up at all when I compared prepayment tariffs using energyhelpline.com. (they are there for credit meter customers)

However you can use their own website here to get a quote

    http://domestic.utilita.co.uk/

You have to click on the price it comes up with that then gives the breakdown of the tariff ... and most importantly whether you would save any money. In my random check, it admitted it would cost more.

Edit: According to energyhelpline, it seems utilita will tie you into a 1 year contract (not early exit fees that other suppliers typically use)
Your only way out appears to be to move home or if the supplier increases prices.

  • Wouldnt go with utilita at all.

just for the fact if they install their meters they are a !!!!! to get removed. the smart meter requires exchange of both gas and electric meter at the same time, if their not done at the same time they cut off supply.

Why can't you find Utilita on comparison sites?

Because you give up before you find them as they are probably the most expensive out there.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • ok i will cancel the installation
