If you know how much you have to spend, you are less likely to go over it. A good spreadsheet is invalueable too. Oh and get your OH (if there is one) onside. So important that you both commit to the debt free path!

What are the plans for the future?

We plan to spend the next 3 years doing some much needed house projects and maybe changing one of the cars. Then it's head down, bum up and working to clear the mortgage. I dipped my toe into the MFW forum and I'm already inspired!

It's finally time to add myself to this list! Such a weight paying the last bill off, even though my overall debt was not as high as some people

a. The date of your lightbulb moment - 15th May 2008
b. Debts at their highest - £6283.69
c. Debt-Free Date - 28th May 2011
d. Your one perl of wisdom. - Budget, budget, budget - and your Debt Free Day will be there before you know it and feel so good!

I've not been an overly active member on here, but the forum has helped me through the toughest times of budgeting and cutting back. My debt free day has actually come a month early through other tips and tricks picked up alongside my budget. I can't relate enough how good it feels to be debt free.

The biggest thanks has to go to my dearest fiance, who never grumbled when I couldn't spend money on her and stuck by me through it all, encouraging me through the way!

Good luck everyone else, and I look forward to reading your stories on here soon...
