The date of your lightbulb moment: December 2012
Debts at their highest: £8010.07
Debt-Free Date: 15th February 2015
Your one perl of wisdom: Set manageable targets and revise them regularly. I used a spreadsheet to keep track of progress against mine.0 -
Last part of every debt I had was finally paid last night.
Lightbulb Moment - April 2010
Debts at their highest - £68244
Debt-Free Date - 20/08/2015
WISDOM:
Never give up.
Never lose sight of the target.
Prioritise NEEDS over WANTS.
Forget pride and be honest about your problems.
£68,000 to £0 in 5 years with nothing other than hard work.
I'm not sure how I'll cope now as moving money, cutting back, paying as little as 28p to a CC and so on has become a way of life - Not having debt is going to leave me with a hell of a lot of free time and worry free evenings drinking wine
We have 4 kids and we are finally in the position where my OH can be a stay at home mum instead of us both working in excess of 60 hours a week.
Feels good. Feels really really good.
From next month, I'll be working 9-5 Monday to Friday with no exceptions.Total Unsecured Debt - Summer 2010 - £68244 / Summer 2011 - £57252 / Winter 2012 - £38495 / Winter 2013 - £21520 / Winter 2014 - £9342. / Summer 2015 - £0 - No Agreements, no payment plans, no settlements, no bankruptcy, just hard work.0 -

Lightbulb moment: October 2012
Debts at highest: £23000 - student loans, credit card, personal loans.
Debt-Free Date: around January this year. I've been meaning to post!
Pearl of wisdom: Keep at it! Keep reading these forums. I haven't posted much, but I have lurked pretty much every day and the support here is incredible. Downsizing by one e.g. next brand down is a great tip. So is switching to monthly council tax payments. I used the snowball method and it really worked for me - especially being able to see a clear end date in mind. And now I'm here - yay!0 -
Lightbulb Moment: November 2013
Debts at Highest: £60k
Debt Free Date: July 2015 (early due to gift).
Pearl of wisdom: Not sure I qualify to give advice, since a lot of our debt was paid off through the receipt of a gift/inheritance. However, knowing everything is important. Know your debts, no the interest rates, your outgoings, your spending. Keep your eye on the ball!Grateful to finally be debt free!0 -
