Halifax cheque withdrawal limit change

Just popped into the Halifax to get a cheque from my savings account to move to my HSBC current account and it seems the rules have now changed and they can only issue cheques over £500. I have had to walk around town with over £250 in my purse this afternoon and I really hate doing that!

I do all my other banking online but this account is a savings book account that I use for treats and days out, i like the fact that I have to go into the branch to withdraw as it makes me think about what I am spending. A little outdated I know, but if it was easier to access I would spend more!0

If you had over £500 in the Halifax savings account you could: At the Halifax: 1) Get a cheque issued for £500 from your savings account 2) Pay in your own HSBC cheque for £250 to your savings account then walk to the HSBC: 3) Pay in the £500 cheque0
