Underpayment demand for 2002-2003

Hi

I had a demand last year for tax year 2002 - 2003 and successfully appealed against it on the grounds of them being too late bringing it to my attention and also, I could not reasonably have been expected to know my tax code was wrong.

My mum has now received one for the same year and I've deleted the info I had. It was a code of conduct for the IR and laid out all the reasons why we may not have to pay up.

If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd be very grateful. I've tried google and trawled the IR site without success. Also tried CAB site to no avail.

This is a link to all IR Code of Practice leaflets. Not sure which one you are refering to though.

    Hi

My husband also received a demand for the same year so I would be interested in the info you are talking about bestpud, also when you appealed did you do this in writing or by phone?

Your husband would need to appeal in writing stating the reasons why he thinks he is not liable to pay the underpayment and how the Inland Revenue failed to use information it had to prevent the underpayment from occurring. You should research "Extra Statutory Concession A19" on the Inland Revenue website. I would give you the link but haven't a clue how to do that.
