Delivery Delays...rights?

We ordered a radiator that was due to be delivery on Monday - hubby took day off and it didn't arrive - after me ringing and checking it was still ok despite the bad weather last week, same yesterday and today still no sign of it - we have been told will be delivered today by 4.30. What rights if any do we have to request refund of delviery charges etc?

The roads around here are completely clear so its not as if they coudln't have delivered it if they had tried....

Thanks

whilst the roads around you are completely clear, where was the delivery originating from and were the roads there clear?

You would really have to find out where the item was coming from before trying to establish if you have any rights to a refund of the delivery cost.

Did the sender guarantee delivery within a specific time?

it was coming from 30 miles away where it is also clear - they told me it had been picked up by the delivery co on fri and taken to lincoln (100m further away)...where it seems to be languishing still

Becasue if the nature of the item (its very heavy and so can't be carted back and forth/ pciked up from depot/ left with nieghbour) they arrange specific delivery day but not time - this was arranged verbally on the phone for Monday

a very quick look via google and I've found pictures of incredibly snowy scenes in Lincoln from around the 30th November - is it likely that the company are unable to pick up the item from Lincoln because of the weather?

further digging reveals widespread school closures in the lincoln area as well

Pretty much everywhere was snowy 30th.. it was collected from North Yorks on 3th dec with no problems from the weather and taken to the depot in Lincoln - on Monday and Tues they refused to put it on the lorrys that were leaving the Lincoln depot. It was delivered late last night with the parts needed to fit it missing...

My husband has taken 3 days of work to wait in for it.

  • I doubt you'll get any compensation, all these companies have clauses that say they're not responsible for late deliveries in the event of extreme weather conditions.

There are a dozen threads like this complaining about late deliveries and mentioning compensation but the fact is that in heavy snow stuff will take longer to reach people then when it's a summer's day.

I don't want compensation - just a refund of the delivery cost and obviosuly the missing items

  • Sorry. I still don't think they'll refund the delivery though because of the weather.
