Can anyone advise please.

I do have to download a number of invoices from my hotmail and these come as PDF attachments.

Until recently I could click on download and that was it, PDF appeared and I clicked on print.
Im using FF

Recently I find that I click on the attachment to download and I am presented with a pop up box asking me to browse for the program to use. I then have to browse to adobe click on that, click on OK, click again on OK for download and then print. The option to "always use this program" to open the PDFs is greyed out?

Is there anyway of getting the PDF simply to open as previously please?

    Hi,

got this from another forum, might help,

: choose the PDF file and then right click it, and then choose "open with.."option and select Adobe Reader, and you need to select "always open the file with this application". So you could open the PDF file using Adobe Reader next time.

Many thanks but it doesnt seem to do that :) No choice given. Always open bit is greyed out.
  • Try updating Adobe or reinstalling it, that might put it back to always use Adobe to open PDF files.

Are you saving them to your HDD or trying to open them directly from within the e-mail?

Hi, I have reinstalled adobe X but no help. Im opening them direct from the email - as Ive always been able to :(
  • it may be worth trying Foxit Reader, hella lighter than adobe products and works in much the same way. they also have (i believe) a browser plugin that lets you view things inside your browser too, so no more downloading and printing :)

Thanks bob, someone else has recommended that too.

As it happens, after faffing about reinstalling adobe and also reinstalling the FF ad on, this morning, lo and behold, I could open with adobe as a default. Im not holding my breath though. So I may have a look at this foxit.
  • Hi,

well, I dumped Adobe some time ago, and now use Foxit, and no problems, give it a go.
