They tend to be in pairs as well. Not pears, unless of course in the '12 Days of Christmas,' which we aren't....yet.

Definately not a woodpecker as one regularly visits the fat balls we've got hanging off the apple tree. It was pecking seed off the ground.
Partridge is a possibility with the shape & colour (and they weren't too far from our pear tree).0 -
