pommegranite..

is this how you spell it? Anyway... anyone got any good tips on how to get the fruit out? My gran and i used to sit for hours when i was young with cocktails sticks, picking them out one by one and eating them, but is there an easier way? Thanks...

    Pomegranate;)

My 9 yo son justy cuts them in half and scoops out the seeds with a spoon. He loves them.

You can whack the cut halves with a wooden spoon to dislodge the seeds over a pudding - think I saw Nigella doing this over a pavlova or something.

I chop them into quarters and scrape the seeds out with my teeth! A bit messy but lots of fun :)

cut them into quarters, then bend the skin back as if you're trying to turn the fruit inside out & it'll be easier to get the seed capsules out :)

    Hi vik,

I found these two links with pictures that might help, (with the first link I had to refresh the page to see the pictures):

I had one yesterday, bloody lovely they are too,I`ve always just cut one in half and got a clean needle and just picked them out.

When I was in Egypt there was a gorgeous dessert with pomme`s on the top. It`s was like a chocolate digestive sort of hard base with what reminded me of blamonche, put was very firm with the pommes all over the top.Was totally gorgeous.I think I might have a go at making one next week.

Anyone got any recipes for pomegranates, please? We have a pomegranate tree in our garden (in Spain) and they are delicious, but looking for something different to do with them. (Yes, have given some to neighbours etc.) Thanks.

Be lazy like me and buy a tub containing just the seeds from Costco I think it was about £3 for 400g? They were lovely :T

Now there's a fruit I've not sampled in a long while, I'll rectify that shortly :)

As to methods, most of the above are new to me! I used to spend ages picking them out individually with a pin and eating as I went... the picking was half the fun!

Bite off the skin after turning quarters outside in is my favourite way of eating pomegranate, only problem is the bits of bitter pith that I sometimes bite with the seeds once in a while.

The other day I was biting into a pomegranate and said to my son, joking: "pomegranate is the new blueberry". Well would you believe it that later on we were watching TV and I saw the very same phrase printed on a side of a bus in a TV program!

Perhaps I should get a job as a publicist, or advert writer hehehehe
