I'd hate to get stuck in the right hand lane in traffic behind some of the posters on this thread (Gene Hunt, Innactive et al) - sounds like they'd never merge in because its clearly wrong/illegal/stupid/dangerous so i'd probably be stuck there for days.......

Mind you, they are probably the same people who sit in the middle lane.....

I hadn't considered this but you're absolutely right.

Apparently, the Highway Code are only guidelines too. So we have to stop in merging traffic but we can drive straight through red lights!

I've seen drivers like you. You are the annoying one. Cheers. I always use the right lane. In my town we have a bridge which only has one lane but on the approach everyone uses the left lane which then blocks up two roundabouts causing congestion for everyone else. I don't use the bridge. Instead of queueing normally to turn left at the second roundabout I use the right lane get past everyone go around the roundabout once then take the exit as if I was turning left. Many drivers get annoyed by this but it is perfectly legal and avoids congestion. I mean they are all just sitting there doing nothing how have I held them up?

Because when everyone does it , the entire island will be gridlocked, in all directions, on and off.

I should clarify the bridge is straight ahead at the second roundabout.

So what you'll have is a second queue of cars onto the roundabout, all the way round, trying to cross the left lane and left, if everyone does what you do.
Then you'll have the ones going straight on doing it to, to save waiting.

im only talking about for example the m25 the signs are showing a 'x' to indicate the right hand lane is closed yet people continue to pile down it cutting i at the last minute creating a jam for the people doing the right thing and getting out the lane

if you dont like it then get out the lane. Every time i have done this the person beside me has always given me the thumbs up and flashed me back in:T:T
