    Great news Elfen!

LMC, I'm feeling fine. I felt a bit grotty late last night but today I'm great. Hopefully it means it's going to work and I'll see a real improvement. It does feel a bit odd to know that I'm walking round with £1800 worth of blood in me though! And very grateful for the NHS.

Beanie, I have a primary immunodeficiency disorder, so my body doesn't produce enough antibodies. so the transfusions are to top me up with donated ones. It should mean that I get less infections, especially as I'm more prone to serious ones, and prevent organ damage - I've got liver lesions probably due to an infection that went unnoticed.

Grrrr, sister's reverted to type. She owes me £280, we'd agreed on £200 plus her old (broken) iphone. Now she's denying all knowledge of it, even though I have emails from her about it.

What makes it all even more galling is that I've asked mum not to put me in her will because if sister gets it all it'll set her up for life, whereas splitting it means we're both a bit short of anything that will be really useful. Sister knows this and she's still getting arsey over a couple of hundred quid, when I'm giving up tens of thousands of inheritence for her.

    Ames~Thanks for explanation.
Can I also ask why on earth you are going without your inheritence? It is not your job to look after your sister.
Your mum may ignore your request?

Sister's just called me back after going through her emails and we've had a calm chat and sorted it all out.

I know mum might ignore my request. But basically, it wont be enough for me to buy a house (well, it might be, but the chances of something suitable coming up in the six months I'd be able to ringfence the money are pretty slim), so she might as well just write a cheque to the DWP. Whereas it would be enough for a deposit for sister, since she's working and can get a mortgage, and maybe to do a Master's. And then when dad dies his will would balance it up. It's just down to practicalities.

I am keeping a sneaky eye on properties, but I'd have to make some adaptations and the cost of those plus the price of the house/flat would take me a little bit over what I'd get in inheritance. I don't know if SS would help with the adaptations. An alternative would be to try and transfer into another council property and buy that, but then I'd still only have the same as I'm living in now, but I'd lose the neighbours. And I really want somewhere with a spare bedroom so when I need overnight supervision someone can stay over.

So, unless a miracle happens and somewhere becomes available, I'd be 25k over the means tested capital limit but about 15k short of buying somewhere suitable.

    Complicated!
