are you actually saying your daughter cannot be trusted with a camera laptop?
or is she too young, in which case, dont get her a laptop.Target Savings by end 2009: 20,000
current savings: 20,500 (target hit yippee!)
Debts: 8000 (student loan so doesnt count)

The correct way to do it...
Press Windows key + R (or Start menu > Run)
Type in devmgmt.msc
A webcam will either appear under 'Human Interface Devices' or 'Universal Serial Bus Devices'
Right click > Uninstall
To reinstall it you can grab your webcam drivers from the manufacturers website or do a recovery/reinstall.0 -

won't it just auto reinstall (possibly with generic drivers) next reboot?0 -
And no doubt your daughter's potential webcam buddy will have no problem reinstalling the drivers for her if she can't.No free lunch, and no free laptop

" I need to disable the webcam so that my daughter cannot use it at all."
Not a techie problem, as mentioned.0 -
Depending on the OS you're using, there may well be a local policy/GPO you can apply which will not only disable the camera, but also prevent it coming back to life or a USB one getting plugged in.0

disable it in device manager.!!

Which is exactly the reason the OP (and pretty much everybody) should be using USER accounts, not administrator, for day to day activities. Doing this would probably remove 95%+ of the "I think I have malware" threads on the internet....you could make give yourself an administrator account, remove the webcam drivers - and then create a User account for your daughter with no admin rights (which will prevent her installing them again) - however it will prevent her doing all sorts of other things too .....Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -
Smash up the laptop?0
