  • The correct way to do it...

Press Windows key + R (or Start menu > Run)

    Type in devmgmt.msc

A webcam will either appear under 'Human Interface Devices' or 'Universal Serial Bus Devices'

    Right click > Uninstall

To reinstall it you can grab your webcam drivers from the manufacturers website or do a recovery/reinstall.

won't it just auto reinstall (possibly with generic drivers) next reboot?

And no doubt your daughter's potential webcam buddy will have no problem reinstalling the drivers for her if she can't.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

" I need to disable the webcam so that my daughter cannot use it at all."

Depending on the OS you're using, there may well be a local policy/GPO you can apply which will not only disable the camera, but also prevent it coming back to life or a USB one getting plugged in.

...you could make give yourself an administrator account, remove the webcam drivers - and then create a User account for your daughter with no admin rights (which will prevent her installing them again) - however it will prevent her doing all sorts of other things too .....
Which is exactly the reason the OP (and pretty much everybody) should be using USER accounts, not administrator, for day to day activities. Doing this would probably remove 95%+ of the "I think I have malware" threads on the internet.
