  • Changed on 1 Oct 2010, clothing will be charged a tax of 4.4% in NY.:(

A state sales tax exemption for clothing and footwear under $55 will be reinstated from April 1, 2011 through March 31, 2012. The original ($110) exemption will be reinstated after March 31, 2012.:)

Sales Tax in NY is normally 8.875%, I normally add 10% to all prices to get the actual price. I add 15% to hotel rates to get the actual price.

If shopping then go to Boston and there is no sales tax on clothing up to $175. Sales tax is 6.25% normally.:D
