I'm considering going for the one in Argos. Its a Fusion FVRT95 80Gb with single tuner at £79.99 (and I have a £10 voucher). Any views on it?
I think the twin tuners are better as you can record and watch another channel not sure if you can with the single tuner ones. I bought a Matsui 80Gb one from currys twin tuner down from £149.99 to £119.99 in their online sale, used a £20 off code plus went through quidco and got free delivery too!

This box, no doubt will use a different compression system. Therefore archiving a higher compression rate. Allowing more data to be stored.

Most just record the stream directly. It means you get the original quality broadcast; the amount of space it uses will depend on the picture/sound quality the broadcaster uses for that channel.

Same as Ferguson box (see my previous post) but without the TopupTV card slot.

Just be very careful with |savapoint . I had terrible problems with them sending faulty items and not giving me a refund . Had to get credit card company involved and I won my case. I may be an isolated case but certainly would never buy anything from them again. The're customer service is appaling.

When looking for the best PVR 80 gig with twin tuners for the mother in laws b-day, I settled on this too.

I did the same combination of vouchers as you, which is a vey good price.

Have a look at the reviews of the M802PVR at Digitalspy, and people are happy with it and have no problems like some other PVRs around this price point.

The 160gb version is £149.99 if your after a bit more space....
  • if finances allow try to get one with a twin tuner which means you can record one program while you watch another channel or something you recorded earlier

And to add to that, I have my TV as another monitor so I can run recorded programmes from PC to TV (OK the wiring is a mess and a nightmare but hey ho)

Not really comparing like with like here are you though? A freeview HD box that you can put underneath your TV is not really the same as sticking a card in your pc which more often than not for most people is in another room...
