Additional Student Accounts

Does anyone know how stringent the credit check for a student account is for most banks? I am unable to increase my main OD (Natwest) or credit card limit and have 3 late payments in the last year but pay in and spend a lot for a student, if I am declined for a card will that mean my chances of a second OD are the same?

Did the bank mark the late payments on your credit record? If you kept less than a month behind they often don't mark it down. You can tell by getting a copy of your credit report for 2 squids. Otherwise just try one or maybe two other banks to see what they'll do you, but don't batter them all because every time they do a credit search your score goes down.0
