courier fees ?

Recently my partner consolidated 2 credit cards into a single loan to reduce monthly outgoings. However she has been charged a courier fee of £70. The courier fee consisted of someone arriving at the house with the documentation of the loan agreement and, if I remember correctly waiting whilst she read over and signed the documents.
Is this common practice to be charged for the courier and is it possible to claim the cost back?

many thanks

Some loan companies charge this fee, and no it is not reclaimable, as they have provided ou an additional service. Reminds me of check and send at the Post Office, but alot cheaper at £8 rather than £70.

In all the loans I have ever taken out, I've never had a courier deliver the documents by hand to me ... but then if the loan was urgent I spent my time & money travelling to the lender to ensure the documents were signed soonest.

So no, I don't think sending a courier is common practise, but where you have been provided with this service I would expect that you would be charged. £70 seems a reasonable charge for such a service.

On what basis were you thinking it may be reclaimable? Were you advised beforehand that the documents were to be sent and returned by the lender's appointed courier and the charge applicable for this?
