Finding a plumber

I'm hoping some plumbers will help me with my question.

I'm trying to find aplumber and have just moved to a new area. I know my immediate neighbours but they cannot recommend any one(one bodges his own, the other have council repairs). I live in a rural area so haven't met many other people yet :o for recommendations. The one I did get via word of mouth said he wasn't interested in ''small jobs''.

LOTS of plumbers advertise, though, for example the Which Local scheme,as well as local publications, but few answer their phones, and most are too busy to come out for a small repair. (which is a good sign and I ask to go onto their waiting lists but never hear back)

I do tell them that though this is a small repair there will be some bigger jobs here in the near future (we have a fixer upper) because I quite see that a small repair is not terribly lucrative or exciting.

I've spoken to a lovely guy this evening who says the best he can do is put me on his January waiting list, that he can't recommend anyone else but that I should keep trying. I got his name from a plumbing supplies shop.

I know people are busy right now, but is there something I'm missing in how to find a plumber?

I can not help you, but don't you think it would have been worth while to put your location/village/town in your post?

Yes it does help, thanks, there a couple listed for my area I haven't tried! I'll call them in the morning. I guess this is a good place to live if you are a plumber...lots of work! :)
