Have you paid extra insurance for winter tyres?
If you have, you should be contacting your insurers for a refund.

If you have, you're probably insured with a !!!!! company like the Admiral Group, who charge extra for "modifications" but hide under their Standard Parts Replacement Clause.
Seriously stop buying cover on price alone. The man without a signature.0 -
It's good to know for the future.0

Do you have to even tell the insurer that you are using winter tyres? (And therefore do you have to tell them when you swap back to summer ones)? I can't see why you would but admittedly I haven't read my full policy from cover to cover recently.
(I haven't got winter tyres yet but am considering getting some).0 -

Most companies charge extra for modifications. Admiral charge a lot less than most. Admiral will also cover non standard parts up to the value of £500 for a few extra quid (£12 IIRC.)
In any case, they wouldn't class the winter tyres as a modification unless they were a non standard size.0 -
Fitting the winter tyres to non standard wheels is what affects the premium, I had a chat to my old insurance guy
the other day.
Changing tyres shouldnt affect the premium, If you change them and had an accident you wont have any issues providing
they meet the requirements for your vehicle.
Load and speed rating must be the same, You cannot fit lower spec H rated winter tyres instead of the correct V rated winter ones.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
