Hi little help needed me and my fiance are buying our first home and are scheduled to pick up the keys on the 16th december , we have just had our final bill from the solicitor through and it has stamp duty on it!, with us being first time buyers am i correct that we will not have to pay stamp duty? Im sure when we sat down with our mortgage advisor we filled in a form stating this. Is this an easy fix to sort out? and has anybody else had this problem in the past

What was the purchase price?

purchase price is 146,000 we have a 15% deposit and are both first time buyers, the letter has come through with the remaining 5% deposit we owe plus the price of our home upgrades ie. burglar alarm , kitchen etc and another 1500 we werent expecting to pay!0

Don't panic! As GMS said! Just speak to your solicitor in the morning and point out their error.0
