You need to try and get across to them somehow that you love them very much but you are really concerned that a) it's not good for them to live like that and they'll feel so much better when it's sorted and b) they risk loosing everything they've ever worked for and ending up homeless unless they pull their fingers out - it's tough but they need to face reality.
