Removal companies working week before Christmas?

There is (remote?) talk of us exchanging and completing before Christmas but I haven't checked the availability of our removal company (stuff in storage through them). I will obviously do that tomorrow if it looks like a possibility but just wondered does anyone know if this is likely to be a busy time or would they shut down for a couple of weeks over the festive season?

I've just called for a quote and have been told they can do Thursday 30 December so although not before Christmas but hopefully an indicator for you. I suppose most people would prefer to avoid the Christmas period but as I have so much time off it is perfect for me!0

We are in the same boat(17th) and had them falling over themselves to come and do quotes. I suppose it's extra cash fir them as not many people will be moving that day.0

I'll try and remember that and make sure I get an awesome quote! They moved me just over a year ago, so I am hoping it will be the same!0 -
Would think if they have the slots you could get anything up to and including 23rd December. They won't want to do the 24th even though it is not officially a BH as traditionally everyone knocks off early.0

Removal companies will bite your hand off for work in December, it would be best to give them as much notice as possible as work is so slow they will not have staff in if you leave it too the last minute.
Do not be embarrassed to negotiate!0 -
I'd check your solicitors are open before thinking about removals around Christmas/New Year. Ours shuts from 23 Dec to 4 Jan!

We were told on Monday that our vendor has to move on the 17th or will pull out
We should be able to do it (just) but I've tried 8 different removals companies and they are all booked solid!!!! I now have a van and friends on hand instead.
