SKY question

I upgraded my sky package over a year ago to multiroom and more recently to sky hd downstairs. I have sky upstairs through a digi link and the multiroom sky in a spare bedroom. I hardly ever use the multiroom sky and thought I would cancel it as I would be able to record and watch the original sky through the digi link. However, even though I am out of contract and I bought the machine for £99.00 sky say if I cancel multiroom i will not be able to use that box to record- is that correct anyone?

i would have thought you would have got your free channels upstairs still as its on a seperate wiring loop to the downstairs box, unless they have a way to cancel that input.
If you cancelled all of your subscriptions you would still own the box and have the free channels.£2008 for 2008 member No.4140 -
if you cancel mulitroom, you can only record on your main sky box. the other box can only be used to receive the free channels. your digilink operates your main sky box, so that will work as before.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. you can only record on a sky+ box if you have a sky+ sub. If you have the movies or sports, they will waive the sky+ sub. The multiroom sub you have provides the same level of service as the main one. If you cancel the multiroom, you technically have no subscription to your spare box, you will therefore be unable to record, unless you pay sky £10 per month for the sky+ feature, which costs the same as the multiroom sub!
as mentioned, you will be able to watch freesat channels, but you will not be able to record anything.0 -

Suggest you obtain a cheap DVD recorder. Less than £60 incl vat at Makro. Before you buy Google Nest or British Gas Hive check out ESPproMon the Android and iOS Smartphone app that helps you build the same system from just £30.0
