Leasing Luck

i have leased several cars my most recent one was written of in a fire 3 weeks ago and my insurance has just paid out 16900 to the leaseing company lombard
the car was actually worth 22000 which was what we agreed on with the assessor so we get the difference minus the my excess and i didnt have gap insurance - either there was no problem with regard to the insurance company paying out as the car was leased or that my husband was the person who took the finance out even though it was my insurance
Generally its 3 months rental in advance
you get the tax sent to you every year and you have to insure it as well
you have to service it either every year or at a set millage
leasing is good if you dont want the hassle want a new car and do low milage around 10,000 or less
you generally have to pay for any tyres that need replacing my service on my last car was 120 pounds and you dont have to go to the main dealer either but you can add a service pack to the cost but its not worth it in my opinion
With regards to warrenty - I havnt leased for more than 3 years but husband leased a jeep cheeroke it was for 4 years he put down 1500 and pay for it monthly - sadly he didnt have me with him when he got it otherwise i would have told him that after 3 year the warrenty is not valid so anything goes wrong its down to him to fix he still has a year left on it
we also had until 3 weeks ago an 09 audi tt convertible that we were leasing the roof leaked in the summer when we were away ruining the interior and costing considerable damages this was all covered under the warrenty and took five weeks to fix - we had a hire car from audi while this happend didnt want to give that back
also the roof woudnt go /down one time and we had to take it back to audi and they fixed it within 2 days
You also road assist /rac cover in case it breaks down
best way i have found to get a good car at a good price is not to be overly fussy on colour/ interior and have a choice or maybe 2 -3 types of car so that you can get the best one for your money
I have used both of these companies with no problems in the past the audi i got from lings who is brilliant
from smartlease we leased a bmw z4 on a 05 plate for 18 month and a mazda mx5 on a 07 plate for two years

My sister just leased a corsa sxi from smartlease i think she is paying 156 a month inc vat so it cost her under 500 to get into the car for three years and 10,000miles
negatives - you never own the car
your stuck with those payments and its very hard to get out of it
you have to be very careful when sending the car back
some finance places are ok other such as lombard will try to charge you for petty things once you finnish i reccomend stoping the standing order so that they cant take any money from your bank account at will ( i say this from experience )its a cheap as most of sent of to auction anyway but they will try it on
as i said dont go for more than 3 years as the warrenty will be out
you may have to tax it at that point so go for 2 -3 year contracts
fees for going over the milage can be harsh so ask for more milage if you think you will need it before you sign the contract not after
Positives
hassel free motoring
you dont put down huge deposits so keeping more of your money
You get a new car every few years if you want it
you just get in and drive
any probs just take to main dealer they will sort it out for you
also depending on when you get it you will get the latest reg cos they come out twice a year so if the reg of the car is important wait until jan to order as the next reg is out in feb0
