DRO with cab taking forever

my wife and i went to Citizens advice Berau in july to discuss putting forward an application for debt relief order. The advisor took copies off all our debtors letters and said he would contact them which he did. But now im recieving letters from creditors saying they have recieved no further corrispondence from CAB and demanding money.

I am a fulltime carer for my wife who is terminally ill and our only income is income support, disability living allowance, carers allowance.

The debts were aquired when myself was in fulltime employment and my wife was in better health.

If anyone knows any tips on how to speed up Debt Relief Order proccess or getting some debt written off please could you post
thanx.

    Hi

Have you been back in touch with the CAB advisor? What has he said? Presumably he originally sent basic holding letters to your creditors just to tell them that you were seeking some advice from them.

Did you complete all the DRO application forms for the official receiver and pay the £90 fee?

To be honest I'm not totally sure how long a DRO takes once the fee is paid and the application is in, but I would think only a couple of weeks.

No, other places can also help - have a look here - Debt Relief Orders - Information & help
and here - IMPORTANT - Where to seek professional impartial advice about your debts.

Have you not been paying anything to your creditors since July? Usually people on benefits would pay token payments (£1 per creditor per month) until the DRO application has actually been sent in.

Have you been given your barcode?

    Have you paid it?

Has the adviser received your credit report?

Was it as expected? (If there are any anomalies on it this may take some time to sort out)

If all these are 'yes' then it should just be a 10-minute chat and press the button.
