Waiting for part for 4 weeks

I am waiting for a part for a vauxhall corsa for 4 weeks.
This is bc the heater doesnt work properly, they repaired it once before and it is still under guarantee.
Apparently its a common fault.
The car freezes up in this weather and when it rains I cant defog the screen.
I rang them up and asked how they were getting on with the part.
They said they hadnt ordered it!
Now four weeks later, going home for the hols I really need my car.
In the past four weeks i have had to use the train, lifts, walked or simply not gone anywhere.
It has cost a lot of money.
Just spoken to Vauxhall again, they say they have to parts but the third (to complete the job) is on back order from Germany, but the weather is holding things up.
They arel going to call Germany and then call me back.
Is there a cats chance of expecting a courtesy car until its fixed? So i can get home for xmas?
Cheers

    Hi Mrs MP

Is the warranty a VX one or just supplied by the dealer?

I bought an 18 month old Vectra from a VX main dealer in July and within a week, the aircon packed up and then the power steering pump.

Both parts were on back order (seems comonplace with VX) - the aircon condenser was 8-12 weeks and the steering pump was 2 weeks.

They wouldn't give me a car for the aircon, as I could still use the car but as the steering problem meant the car was off the road, vauxhall provided a hire car. Funnily enough, this additional cost seemed to speed the parts supply up and it was fixed within the week.

I would bang your dealer's table and insist on a courtesy car/hire car, as it it unsafe (and possibly illegal?) to drive a car in current conditions without heating.

    Good luck but be firm.

    Phil
