Hi there,
I have a 250gb 3.5 inch ide hard drive in my old computer which I want to remove and put in an enclosure and then hook it up by usb to my new computer.
Any suggestions gratefully appreciated and also whether I will need a caddy with its own power supply etc.
I will probably be buying on ebay.
many thanks
Justin

With an eye to the future, you may want to look at the Docking Stations that are appearing on eBay, which combine IDE and SATA 2.5 and 3,5 drive docking along with multi card readers - like this one0

3.5" drives are big clunky things that ALWAYS need a separate power supply in addition to the USB cable.
You do have the option to mount it internally of course and run it off the PCs internal power
