There's nothing as British as an Indian.

I have to ask it? why dont Americans like lamb?

So far all of two have stated that they don't like it. I fail to see why this has been extended (by them) to generalise for the whole country.

I'm English and don't like tea. Italian and don't like coffee. Extending my preferences to a generalisation would seem a bit silly.

Oh please don't...this is a nice thread! Meritaten ONLY ASKED why American's seem to not like lamb & we simply gave our responses, that's all. I certainly never spoke "for all of Americans" and it's clear from my post...stop looking for something to grumble about....

    ?

JennieO, post 12, said "just wanted to add as an american, I really don't like lamb and neither does anyone in my family." Sparkly fairy said something similar in post 13. They were the 'them' I meant (just didn't have the names to hand when I wrote it and didn't want the person I had quoted to think I meant her). I wasn't getting at Meritatin at all.

I was merely pointing out that two Americans saying they don't like lamb doesn't mean all Americans don't like lamb. I wasn't grumbling, just bemused. I'm also bemused by the vehemence of your replies. Heyho...

Sounded very much like a grumble...hmmm, perhaps read this:

I have to ask it? why dont Americans like lamb? Lamb is a beautiful, tender, sweet, meat cooked properly.

My response to this is post #27....I really don't see why you are so confused?? Also, where's the vehemence? I'm getting rather bored now...

I honestly did not intend to upset anyone on this thread. Is there some etiquette that I got wrong? I'm confused. Very sorry to have upset or bored you.

i am NOT upset - indeed I recognise that perhaps I shouldnt have generalised! apologies to any American people on here!
I watch food network a lot (mostly American chefs) and vary rarely see lamb on the menu! I accept that America has a great tradition of raising beef and that its probably one of the most popular meats!
I am sorry if I upset anyone!

Yeah I think it all depends what you grew up on. I did also think lamb had a funny smell and taste which reminded me of beef that had gone off. But then again I'm sure I eat things that would make british people feel ill.

Anyway glad the OP has got a plan now! :D

It's amazing how many Brits simply don't realise how unpopular lamb is in the rest of the world. I would say that, for the majority of world taste, lamb is off the menu.

A shame because they don't know what they're missing - but it does rather underline what a race apart we are.

On the other hand, frankly I wouldn't set any store by american 'taste' which, to judge by their so-called 'chocolate' and 'coffee', is non-existent...
