I have never heard of this company. Quick search on google tells me they are trading name of Avantia Insurance, who I have also never heard of. The policy is underwritten by various Lloyds syndicates none of which are named. At first glance the policy wording seems ok but nothing special.
So to answer your question they are not a well known and recognised company. Not sure if you are getting the cheapest quote because you have not told us what you have been quoted.I am an Insurance & Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. homeprotect are on all the comparison sites. Looking at their website their pitch is that they can cover people irrespective of their circumstances (i.e. previous flooding, subsidence, criminal convictions, working from home, unoccupied properties etc). They have been trading since 2001.
It seems that they won a big award this year at the British Insurance Awards - so looks like an interesting company to watch out for.
Hope that helps.0 -
I have heard of this company - as in they will cover a higher risk. I have no personal experience of them but haven't heard anything bad either.
They might be suitable for anyone with non-standard circumstances ie flooding, subsidence, CRJs, lodgers, etc0
