When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free!:money:

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.!

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important. :D

morning everyone. Not feeling very perky today :( hope everyone else out there is having a better morning. For those out there who are feeling demotivated & low, know that its a part of the process, keep going and it can only get better & when you're having a low patch just ease up slightly and be kind to yourself x

Today:
  • poridge for breakfast opps skipped brekkie in my business
  • [STRIKE]hm pea & mint soup for lunch mmmmm[/STRIKE]
  • post off dds xmas present to be re-plated
  • [STRIKE]check banking[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]get expenses & overtime to payroll[/STRIKE]
  • write xmas cards tonight

  • Good morning DFW-land! Sorry to hear you're feeling blue DNMS; I'm feeling a bit down too but I will treat myself to a sandwich and doughnut for lunch instead of taking lunch in. A very small thing like that will cheer me up. Funny how treats used to be big things, but now the small things can be treats and not break the bank! :D

I didn't get through to HMRC yesterday about them taking too much money out of my bank but they're open at 8 this morning......

    So far I have:
    • run WM overnight on Economy 7
    • checked banking
    • fed and watered chickens
    • set automatic feeder for chickens' supper
    • turned off a couple of heaters - the house is empty all day whilst DH is with his mum
    I will also:
    • get a lift to work - haven't worked out how I'm getting home yet :(
    • phone HMRC from work
    • try to do some surveys
    • dry HC on airer not in TD
    • fridge dive for dinner as it's just me today
    • try to keep focussed at work not like yesterday :o
Keep warm and safe everyone, it seems colder outside now than when we had the snow.

    Check bank
Check for bills that are due (come to me diary) - nothing due til tomorrow
    Check shopping list
Wait for post to finally arrive.
    Clean flat

    Morning All,

Thanks for starting the thread Determined

Hello to those who have posted before and will post after me. Hi to all new posters

    Today I have/will
    • Checked online banking – no change but had to check
    • Check emails
    • Meals from storecupboards (ate porridge on the train - classy)
    • Made a coffee at home to drink on the train
    • Used my rail pass to get to work
    • Catch up with friends on FB rather than texting people
    • Read newspaper online and get the free newspaper at the station
    • Need to check out the freebies and the competition boards
    • Drink 4 glasses of water at work
    • NSD – grabbed fruit from the fruit basket before I left home
    • Picked up chocolate from the mini snack pack before I left so I do not succumb to the vending machine when the mid morning snack attack happens!
    • Enter comps online
    • Washing on a quick wash 30 degrees
    • Start taking meds to ease PCOS symptoms (again)
    • Charging phone at work
    • Appraisal at work today so I hope it goes OK
    • Catch up

Can’t think of anything more, perhaps there will be something!

Take care everyone and have a great day, hugs to those that need them

Thanks for starting the thread DNMS. I was actually up @ 4 so feel a bit guilty for not starting it and got my act together and put the e-cig together this am in an aim to reduce (smoked like a chimney in the psych unit :p).....However...lets just say it's gone better. Not even managing 2 cigs an hour (and I smoke roll ups so this is perfectly fine..they're not huge) never mind any less :(

Sorry folk are so down. I have a really cool phrase for all your blue ppl It's not going down that's the crime but staying down... Hugs

Also my eldest aunt is ill and not expected to make it so more Ma troubles last night. What with no apology for swanning off to Paris and then not being able to afford £40 for a decent ticket to Ed in February I'm not best pleased ..

So today's agenda (yesterday's was tickety boo btw :j)

    AM
    • Read up on eager learners
    • Wash up
    • Make bread
    • Sort out washing
    • ?Check for surveys
    • Menu plan and shopping list (remember to phone RCH re veg tomorrow)

    PM

    • Go to Mr L for coffee whitener etc and tobacco shop on way home

    • Nap (don't forget 4pm)
    • Check card list and parcel for chaplaincy (Uni)

    SUPPER

    Evening routine

And I have a self imposed curfew due to this ice. So far only major whoopsie on this week's budget (baring in mind my budget starts on a tues) is buying a decent ironing board off ebay last night (ice makes Mr JL a no no) but that was necessary considering the student free one is a health hazard

I also found taking out £30 (about 2/3-3/4 misc and food budget inc cigs) on a tues is best cos it means I have £ for the w/e rather than taking out £40 (remember folks cash is king :D)....Did that last week and was hardly over budget at all by the end of the week (and even that could have been taken out of whoopsie)

  • Hi Everyone

I haven't been contributing too much to this but, having looked at my bank account this morning, I'm feeling the need to take a bit more control! I have only £70 left to last me a week or so and I think I have already spent about £25 of that and I need to get £10 today!!

On the plus side I have done all the Christmas shopping so December wages on 15th should be fairly healthy.

    My list for today:-

    1. Check bank account thoroughly - see what is still left to go out and work out a budget from now until payday on 15th - I CAN DO THIS!!!

    2. Go to library and return some books and get some new ones to carry me through the Christmas holidays.

    3. Work hard at work and get through my "to do list".

    4. I have brought lunch from home - I must not buy anything else!

    5. Slimming world class tonight (hence needing £10 - £4.95 entry and £1 raffle ticket). Do not spend anything else!

Im sorry that this sounds more like a message to myself than to you readers! I hope everyone has a good day and stays warm!

    xxxxxxx
