Lol! Hey Cup Cake! Thanks for joining! Always nice to know people are reading - although I'm not sure about about organised! If I was I probably wouldn't have found myself in this position in the first place! Oh well...you live an dlearn and have to get on with it I suppose! I'm lucky in that I have 2 part and flexible jobs now and so can usually guarentee work 5/6 days a week. Really helping to get on top of it all.

£69 in a £2 pot is ridiculous I know! It's my OH - he keeps putting his tips in after work at the restaurant which is great as this is our holiday spending money but it does mean that there are £10 notes, £1 coins and the odd 50p in my £2 coin savings!!! I'm not complaining though! It all counts!

How are you getting on with your journey? Looks like you have a relatively low debt compared to some of us on the boards - I'm sure you'll be debt free in no time!

I'm so looking ofrward to Barca...just love it there! Trying really hard to have it all paid for BEFORE we go so we can relax and really enjoy ourselves without scrimping too much whilst we're there. Will be great to let our hair down.

    Right back to work...urgh!

You're right, it all counts. I also have a £2 coin pot, and it's amazing how it can add up. I had one when I was younger and collected about £100 in 6 months which I thought was fab.

I think sometimes you just need to let your hair down, debt or no debt you only live once and you have to enjoy life as well as paying off the debts.

I do have quite low debt compared to most yeah. Although my OH is a contractor so work is sporadic. When he is earning I could pay the debt off in a couple of months if I knuckle down but there are no jobs going at the moment so my wage only just covers all our bills.
I can't wait until he gets a new job, it'll be lovely being able to pay off big chunks of debt at once.
The big debt in my sig is actually my OH's but it's in my overdraft and whilst it's there we are both technically skint so I am keeping a track of it for him.

    Wow, I can babble!
    Have fun at work, Cup_Cakexx

Oh God! Haven't written for a while as been manic busy over the last few days but there I was today, having lunch with some friends and HSBC call me..."Have you with drawn money in Hong Kong today?" "Er...NO!" My card has been cloned and someone has used it in Hong frikkin Kong!!!!! Amazing though that the bank spotted it so quickly and let me know. Fortunately, although the money has been withdrawn from my count and I am now overdrawn I won't be charged. Nightmare though as my card has been stopped and I have to wait for another to arrice! Grrrr...the little !!!!!!s.

Other than that things are OK, trying to keep on top of debts and working hard to cover bills and trip to Spain. Have applied for 0% balance transfer which will help. Have put 2 cards onto it to avoid stupidly high interest. Will "snowball" the payments to try and get rid of it quicker. Looking forward to getting paid this week!!!

I was doing some promotion this week and missed out on £90 worth of commission by one sign up! Gutted as I worked so hard. Its not the end of the world as the daily rate is good enough to make the job worth it without the commission but even still - by one lead!!!!!! Ugh!

Should have done a bit of shopping today so I can take lunches with me but I missed the supermarket so will have to but some soup tommorow and then get some things in in the evening. Surprisingly though I managed to make the "top up" shopping that I did 2 weeks ago last and we haven't done any other food shopping since then! Apart from milk and bread I think! Not bad though so I have saved some moeny there :)

Started my tax return tonight - boring! so boring! I have managed to get all my earnings together but now need to get P60s from employer. They are so slack - they should just send them out each year but they never do! Will get it tomorrow and then will tackle my receipts. Thank goodness for online assesment - should have it finished by tomorrow evening. Will be a weight off my mind when its done. Been meaning to do it since September! Its so typicall of me though - total last minute dot com! Always have been!

Oh so tiered. Should have put the washing machine on as well but oh well. It will all get done tomorrow.

    Night night :)

  • Finally ... its almost done!!!!

I have spent the evening going through my receipts so I can file my tax return!!! All I need to do tomorrow is double check a P60 and I'm sorted. And I'll then be able to find out the grand total of the teax that I owe! Eeek!

I have also just printed out my invoice for last week and will get that in the post tomorrow. My OH is outting £100 towards the flights to Spain in my account tomorrow so that can come off the credit card that I used to psy for them and the fraud money was also put back into my account today so things are getting sorted. Slowly but surely!

When I'm paid at the end of this week and then again from my other job next week I'll be able to get a bit more off my credit card totals and I should also know by then if I can get a balance transfer to a 0% offer with my cutrrent HSBC card, That would really help as i can pay that off on line and I might start doing a payment a day onthat as well as the monthly DD from what was my loan repayment.

The £2 coin pot is slowly going up in value too and so although I'm working my socks off at the moment I am hoping to see the rewards of it sooner rather than later!

Night everyone - the washing up is calling!!!

  • Hooray! Finally I have filed my tax return! And it isn't as terrible as I thought it might be which is good news! My plan is that I should get paid on Friday (could be Monday) and with that money I will pay off what I owe before the end of Jan! What a relief! I never do very early as its such a pain to do, but then I have to admitt that if I was a bit more organised it would take much less time to work out!

Yesterday I was very good and found all my receipts and filed them into monthly envelopes - even the ones for this year! Should make it less traumatic for the next one.

I was going to go to the gym tonight but as a reward for doing my tax return I am going to have an evening at home pampering! And an early night! How ridiculous - going to bed early being a treat?! lol!

Oh well...at least I don't have to think about it again for a while :)

My next big job is getting a pile of stuff I have accumilated on ebay with the view to putting the money towards the Barca trip. Would be nice to get another £50 or so in the pot!

Well back to the grid. Aiming to get my commission up from £320 to £340 today. Here we go....

Have a great day everyone x

  • Hi Shy! Thanks for subscribing! I often wonder if anyone reads my nonsense!!!

Good news is that HSBC have transfered 2 balances onto my card at 0% interest! Yay! Means I have more of a chance of paying it off not just £100 each month and then £40 being added as interest! Grrrr!

I am going to call them to set up a DD and then I will try and do little payments every couple of days as well. The payaday boeard is my inapiration for this and as it's all linked to my internet banking it will be so much easier to manage :)

    Woop!

  • Ok, so stupidly I was about to set up a DD to pay off the brand new 0% interst card balance until I was reading MSE newsletter and totally realised I need to be paying off the card with the highest interest rate! Duh! Of course I do! So instead of setting it up to HSBC, I will firstly pay off my Mint card and then focus on the Virgin card. That way I should save myself on the interest. I will set up DD for the min payment on the HSBC so I don't have to remember to pay it.

I thought I was getting to grips with all this - apparently I still need to think about these things! ;)

  • The little sh&ts! I have just found out that my invoice was a day late arriving to the office and so therefore am only being paid for the days I did at the beggining of December and not the days I have done at the beggining of this month as well! It means instead of being paid £600 on Monday I am only being paid £270 which is no where near enough. In any other month that would be OK as I get another pay day on 6th of Feb, but I need to pay my tax bill on Monday. Grrrrrrr! I have a solution, I haven't paid in money I got for Christmas yet which I was saving as I didn't want to fritter it away, but now I will have to pay it in tomorrow...and I'm not convinced it will clear by Monday. I also have £50 in my ISA which I could transfer but I'm so disappointed! I really thought this was the end of having to scrimp. I'm working 6 days a week and really won't see any benefit from it until the end of the Feb. Then I will be paid hundreds and I don't mean to sound ungrateful but what a pain in the rear end this is!!!!!

    Annoyed :(

    Hi Polly,

    Grrrr to the late invoice!

Cash paid into your account should be in there on the day.

Could you borrow from your sealed pit with an IOU to it? This is an unexpected emergency!

    Good luck
