Please can anyone help me to decide which laptop to by for my sons. I have around £450 to spend.
We were looking at a Packard Bell one in Currys but having read some reviews on techie sites, Packard Bell does not seem to have a good reputation, so have also been considering Toshiba and Asus, but am open to suggestions.
My sons are 12 and would be using it to surf, play online games, watch dvds and hopefully doing some homework!
Need to make a decision whilst the OH is preapred to dip his hand in his pocket

the problem with laptops and 'good' games, they need a good processor and also a good graphics card. Soon a you get speed you need more power so you get a shorter batter life, plus more heat. This usually mounts up to a top spec laptop i.e. loads of cash.
Asus are not bad, but the case is a bit thin. Just about adult resistant, and perhaps not 12 year old proof.
They probably would be better off with a desktop and possibly a cheap notebook for school.0 -
You might consider this Lenovo Thinkpad. It has a Core i3 processor; 320Gb hard disk; 2GB RAM and a dedicated graphics card that will help with gaming. Price £434 + delivery.
