Is it for you or for a gift? I have a Canon 450D but it's always good to try holding it etc....0

First of all what is your budget?0

Budget between 3>500 quid. I've had a look around normal suspect online shops, as a novice myself, looking for something user friendly?
Thanks....0 -

The Nikon D3100 seems to getting a lot of good reviews, and it seems quite user friendly

I would also consider the Canon 500D, which is a good quality entry level DSLR

There are also entry level models from Sony and Pentax. You really need to get to a camera store and handle a few models, see which feels best to you, they are all capable of very good image quality.0 -
if you can get your hands on a Nikon D40 (may be ebay) it is an excellent camera. Its only 6 MP but its perfect for beginners and to be hoenst unless one regularly prints sizes bigger than A3 than there is 6MP should be more than enough.0
