Help! Possibly ripped off by a travel agent, help needed

Hi,

A friend of mine has just booked a flight with worldwideflights.com, for £1,100. She checked online then booked over the phone, and gave them her debit card details. The guy said a confirmation email would be with her in half an hour, then she called and they said in an hour.

When she called back again she spoke to someone else, who said her original agent wasn't there but it won't be a problem and she should call in the morning.

The agency, part of Benz Travel, has an ATOL number (and the flight is with Iberia) but worldwideflights and Benz have very bad reviews on reviewcentre (wwf / Benz) (though a few good ones). Mentions on this forum are far from positive.

What are her options? Can she cancel via Nationwide (it's a Nationwide Debit Card she booked with)? Or should she just hope and pray tonight, and then push to get a confirmation tomorrow morning?

Any help v much appreciated!

She is committed to the booking unless they cannot fulfil it.

Thanks. I called up Nationwide and they said the same thing. If the agency can fulfill it then there's no problem, as it's cheap. I guess the thing to do now is wait until tomorrow morning, chase them up and get confirmation, then (from reading around) check the PNR with Iberia and ensure it's all kosher. Cheers.

most 'review sites' have bad reviews, basically because the majority of people only go onto those site to moan, or to express disapproval.

if it's a flight that is paid in full, then ticket should beissued straigt away, and therefore she should be able to check the reservation through either the airline direct, or through MT&M, or Galtrip, whichever they used. all they need is the PNR (passenger numerical record) of the airline, or the MT&M ref.

any queries, PM me the details.

BTW, forgot to mention. can you please change the title of your thread. it sounds like the company your friend has used is not a travel agent at all, but a flight booking company.

please do not tar us honest travel agents with the same brush!
