Buying expensive things on Ebay

I am very interested in buying an item on Ebay costing a total of £100 including p+p.
The seller has a feed back of 16... all +ve but has not sold before.
(The purchases were also made ages ago) Naturally I am concerened about loosing my money, goods not arriving or being damaged in the post. It's too far away to collect.
Am I being silly? I know people have to start somewhere.
TIA

Personally, I wouldn't. The feedback is still so low and if they have not sold before it seems a bit risky. I know users do have to start somewhere, but I built up my feedback by buying first and then just selling low-price items.
Is it something that you can get in a shop or online elsewhere? Even if you have to pay a bit more, I would consider if it's worth it bearing in mind that you'll at least have a guarantee of sending it back if faulty and that the retailer isn't going to do a runner with your money.
They might turn out to be genuine, but if something looks too good to be true, then it generally is.0 -
I'd suggest waiting until you find an auction with buyer protection on it, for expensive purchases. My TV is broken!

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0
