Hi All,

Hi this is my first post to this forum but I have been following it for a while. I am in the middle of developing Buy or Rent calculator, it allows you to compare real cost of buying and renting with higher degree of details than some others calculators. If you would like to see how it works, please go to app.agileforge.co.uk/buyorrent.html there is also instruction and info how data is being calculated.

Any feedback is really appreciated.

Thank you :)

p.s.
I hope it does not qualify as a spam as I am not doing it for any profit whatsoever. Just personal interest.

Interesting calculator, which should be useful to quite a few people. I would say the page where you input the numbers could do with a bit more explanation -- maybe like additional notes that pop up on mouseover, or when you click a little question mark next to each box?

I'm no expert so won't comment on the maths behind it, but maybe add links to some sites with background info/historical data to help people choose values for the assumptions etc. e.g., so users don't assume the current low interest rates will continue over the life of the mortgage!

Thank you for feedback, I am still work on this and the user interface is still not enough intuitive - definitively something I need to work on.

Regarding the math, I tried to explain it on the 'Overview' tab in the Result section. Also it is possible to hover over the result set table to see info how numbers are calculated.

And don't forget to click graphs tab it's worth more than thousand words :)

    Thank you
