    I've been Money Tipped!
I don't post any and only give around 10 cards each year, with 2 children in school now they 'have' to send cards to the whole class regardless of if they like all the children or not so that's 60 or so cards more than i really need to buy.

tbh i don't think were sending any.i'd much rather give to chairty again this year. few years ago when i worked in a big office i must of written nearly 200 cards, by time did family and friends etc. certainly cutting down from then.
  • No!!! I love sending xmas cards I think it's a lovely tradition that we need to cherish, it's so easy to send someone an email or 'ecard' but it really doesn't mean the same thing to me, a pack of xmas cards can cost less than £1 and as we have become a nation of people who don't write letters anymore, I think it's lovely to receive a card from someone. I appreciate postage stamps are expensive, but I tend to hand deliver mine which yes there is the petrol cost aswell but it's nice to just take the time to catch up with people you don't see very often

  • i send christmas cards to everyone even our postie and the bin men and our pets sorry but im a bit of a christmas nut.:rotfl:
  • I don't know if it's still the same but when I used to live in Austria, the tradition was that you only sent cards to people you wouldn't be seeing, and the cards were beautiful - there was no such thing to be had in my big village as pre-packed mass produced cheapie cards. Most people I knew made beautiful handmade cards and it was when I was there that I got bitten by the craft bug.

I haven't sent any for years and won't be this year. I feel they're a waste of money.

  • I will send to immediate family and very close friends - and will also donate to Alzheimers. I detest writing loads of cards that I know will end up in the bin!
If you wait for perfect conditions, nothing would ever get done! :T
    I'm not short - I'm condensed awesome! :p
  • I enjoy making my xmas cards, so will still be sending them. However, I dont post lots of cards. Probably about 8. I send cards abroad to my OH family members but via my MIL so only have to pay 1 postage.
I give the 99p shop cards to people at work, but not I'll even bother this year.
We decided a few years ago that we were only going to do xmas with close family & friends. My OH has a huge extended family & it just got ridculous.
  • no dont do cards i think they are a wast of money and paper .whot i do is give a scratch card to each close family members works out 8 pound

I'm not actively sending any myself, but I'll be putting my name on ones bought to give from me/our immediate family to other family members as I'm not in charge of that section of card-sending. I cannot understand what the point is of what seems to go on a fair bit in my family and I'm sure with a lot of other people too, that is buying and writing out a Christmas card, when you are then going to go and see the person to give them their card! I don't understand why you can't save the money, effort of going to get the card, and poor trees to make all the paper, and just SAY Merry Christmas while you're with them!

My mum's already said not to get her or my dad any cards, because they have the cards from a few years ago that they decided to just keep and put out every year since! It's ok as there's nothing year-specific on them!
