Scottish Power

Not residing full time in the UK at the moment my bills are estimated. The last live reading was Sep 2010. I have asked for a refund as I'm nearly £500 in credit. Currently nobody available to read the meters as requested by Scottish Power (but that again would be an 'estimate' would it not?) they are not even prepared to credit me with a proportion of what they owe me. It's not rocket science to look back over the past year and see our consumption is low. Can they legally hold onto this much money until I can next get to UK in 3 weeks time?

Yes.
Either switch supplier or ask to be billed on receipt of bill in which case they should refund the credit (but it may cost you more in the long run)
An actual read is not an estimate
I think SP pay interest if your account is in credit (over £100) in March at their annual review."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100
