If you call a rising VAT rate which by 2014 will be 23%. To be an issue sorted.
Eire is in an age of austerity for at least a decade. As it will take that long to downsize the balance sheets of AIB and BOI. (Unless they are taken over).0 -
A lot will depend on how f**ked is defined. The remaining banks will be very small. Everybody that pays tax via PAYE (don't know the name of the Irish equivalent) will pay more. VAT will rise. Public spending will fall. This will eventually pay of the debt. Meanwhile Ireland is f**ked.
Or
Sinn Fein, Labour and some independents form the next government. See the details of what exactly has been agreed and immediately default & leave the Euro. Ireland is still f**cked but misery loves company as they are joined by Portugal, Spain & Belgium (yes Belgium).
The Irish state and the official economy may be in dire straits but the black economy in Ireland is substantial in its size and reach. Corruption is not just for those in officialdom. As many have said Ireland will be ok.0 -
and we are loaning them (or giving if they can't pay it back) all the money we are going to save from the public sector cuts ...0

From my simplistic point of view, if you're very f*cked and in lots of debt, you're still pretty much f*cked even if someone else lends you some money to pay off that debt.0 -
The British press have moved on to more important things like why we didn't get the World Cup.......... and who won X Factor and what size knickers Cheryl Cole wears.......0
