I was planning to connect my Humax Fox T2 PVR to the household network using a Netgear WiFi adapter (WNCE2001) but I can't seem to get it to work :o

I have a Netgear Router (DG834Gv5) and both are supposed to connect via WPS push 'n' connect. I plugged the adapter into my laptop to set it up and everything seemed fine in http://www.mywifiext.net/

But when I plug it back into the Humax it just says server not found. I must be missing something so very obvious. Help :o

ETA: the LAN is connected via DCHP if that helps but is using IP address 192.168.1.100 and won't let me manually change it to 192.168.0.100 (range is 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.254)

you'll have to set the IP address manually (I've got a Humad HDR so the settings should be roughly the same)

set the Humax to use 192.168.0.100 /

Goto "Menu" / "system" then "Network"
select configure ethernet and enter in the details as required.

I tried that in Settings>System>Internet Setting>Configure LAN but as soon as I click "apply" it says "network connection has failed". It doesn't make any sense. It's also using different Netmask, Gateway & DNS addresses to my router too but again it fails to connect if I change anything.

I don't understand how it can say I have a network connection (LAN) in the settings but when I try to access the network using the Media function it says "no server has been found" and the WLAN light is out :wall:

Is the Netgear actually getting any power?

Yes, it has full power. Both green lights of the WiFi adapter are on, it's just the WLAN light that won't stay on. When I attempt to connect using WPS (on both router & adapter) it says it's successfully connected and the light stays green for 5 seconds before going out.

In the internet settings on the Humax it says it is connected but when I try to access the network via the Media function it will "search" for a few minutes before saying "cannot find server" :(

I was wondering whether it might be worth replacing my router? Maybe the signal strength isn't good enough, although I've not had an issue with any other Wifi product and the Wii (which sits next to it) quite happily works with it's USB adapter.

Failing that, what other product could I use so I can get the Humax onto the network to access video/music/photos on various PC/Macs?
